The Christmas Tree

I remember past Christmases.
I knew Christmas was coming when dad lifted the huge box out of the attic in the morning, Smiled at me, winked, and told me to run home after school or he'd have finished before I returned. Of course, he never did. It was something we always did, me running home to find the box holding the Christmas tree still closed, waiting. I didn't care that he'd been teasing me; it was part of the fun. Then came the joy of putting it up.

I'm crying insideI'm crying inside. Tears splash through my veins, Struggling in vain to soothe my boiling heart. Unspoken sobs echo through my blank brain, As I struggle to think clearly through the noise. I'm screaming inside. Shouts of fury vibrate my very bones, though the only sign are my shaking fingers. Rash words fire my nerves, urging my limbs to hit out. I'm deranged inside. Stomach full of bitter bile, My mind is stuck on hateful words and violent thoughts, Unable to focus on the positive. Hurt blinding my eyes, Rejecting he who rejected me. Seventeen tears sliding down an angry cheek, To wash away the pain. Cool sorrow replacing boiling fury, As the wound begins to numb. Who can tell what thoughts are going on underneath that mask? Innocent looks and shy whispers, calculating stares and loud opinions. I'm ashamed to say that I don't think I realised there were literature categories on dA before, although having read some of yours, I am very glad there are.

I think I shall have to click watch too, because there are just too many brilliant pieces to add all of my favourites to, well, my favourites.

Yeah, literature is a very tiny little category, and overlooked lots, which is a shame because there are some really good writers out there in my opinion. I added you for much the same reason, you have lots of really good photographs.
